Advanced Evaluation & Management of Psychiatric Illness in Reproductive-Age Women

From the website:
I am a certified Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, with advanced training in psychotherapy and medication management. I particularly enjoy working with clients who are struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship issues, ADHD, and the adjustment--both physical and psychological--to parenthood.
My background as a Community Health Nurse for pregnant and parenting families, and my understanding of the hormonal and biological factors that are intertwined with emotional issues during this time, make me an excellent choice for prenatal and postpartum anxiety and depression. I also have experience working with PTSD, substance abuse, and attachment issues.
As a nurse I take an individualized and holistic approach to both psychotherapy and medications. My therapy is relationship-based, and draws from supportive, psychodynamic and cognitively based traditions. I am also able to prescribe medication when appropriate.

Jennifer Barnes is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) committed to providing holistic, evidence-based care. She seeks to understand the background, strengths, and struggles of her patients to work together to build a treatment plan individualized to their needs. She can address a variety of concerns including anxiety disorders, depression, treatment resistant depression, bipolar, PMDD, and ADHD.

Her areas of interest and expertise include pregnancy, fertility challenges, postpartum, the transition to parenthood, and the menopausal transition. Before attending graduate school, Barnes spent the past 20 years working in women’s health and maternity care as both an RN and a board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC). Several observations over the past many years contributed to her decision to return to graduate school: the rise in mental health disorders, the challenges in finding qualified providers, and the lack of community support. Her background in women’s health has given hera strong foundation in the way hormones interact with mental health.

From the Willamette Health and Wellness website:

I work with adults aged 18-60, providing psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and psychotherapy.

I began my path to becoming a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner as a labor and delivery nurse. After six years, I returned to school, at the University of New Mexico, to become a certified nurse midwife. I had the immense privilege of working with families in this role for 17 years before deciding it was time to use my skills in a new way. I received my post-master's certificate as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner from Frontier Nursing University, seeking to reach patients with trauma/burnout related to working in healthcare, as well as those with trauma related to receiving healthcare, particularly perinatal/obstetric trauma.

My decades spent with families in labor informed me on how to be with people during their most fearful and uncomfortable moments, as a support person and a guide. I approach my practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner in a similar way. My care is holistic and grounded in understanding the social, emotional, cultural, physical, and psychological experiences of my patients. I provide respectful, personalized care, always in partnership with my patients while recognizing the right to self-determination. I believe the process of engaging in mental health care can be empowering, and I have confidence in patients' abilities. Through my presence, I strive to provide care and healing, guided by evidence, that is centered on your values and preferences.

I live with a house full of humans and beasts, who keep me young and age me, simultaneously. I endeavor to keep them, and all the plants, alive and well, while also quilting, crafting, going dancing, and creating community in Portland.

From their PSI profile & Patient fusion site:

I am a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with additional therapy/trauma training. I offer counseling, support, and if needed medication management, during all stages of the parenthood journey.

I provide psychiatric care in the form of psychotherapy with or without psychiatric medication management. Psychiatric treatment involves discovering and understanding multiple factors that may be contributing to current symptoms and distress. I help clients to gain a better understanding of their thoughts, behaviors, and interactions with others. I incorporate many psychotherapy techniques including Psychodynamic therapy, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills. I believe that emotions and feelings are valuable and manageable and I help people gain awareness on how to tolerate them, cope with them, and use them to guide their intuition. Listening is the most important part of my job, as I believe there is not a one size fits all solution for change and treatment. Thus I do my best to tailor my tools to fit the individual. I have had additional training in women's health that includes perinatal and postpartum mood disorder treatment and have a Perinatal Mental Health Certification.

Hi, I’m Marisa (she/her), a psychiatric nurse practitioner and the founder of Talking Twenties. I believe people in early adulthood deserve high-quality and compassionate care tailored for this challenging phase of every person’s life. Your twenties (and thirties) can be awesome. Let’s make it happen for you.

I am straightforward in my approach, listen carefully and work at your pace. In treatment, I attempt to balance my expertise– the science supporting medication decisions– with your own expertise– your body and mind.

At the core, I work with people who are struggling and want to reclaim their lives. If you don’t know what’s going on, I’m happy to guide you on your path to finding out.

I am a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner with over 20 years of nursing experience in a variety of settings from emergency department, family medicine, maternal health and inpatient psychiatry. As a nurse practitioner, I am licensed to prescribe and manage mental health medications and I practice psychotherapy using a holistic and trauma informed lens with the understanding that we are dynamic and complex individuals, not a diagnosis.

I see patients ages 18-64 and I work with a variety of issues, though my focus is working with people who struggle with anxiety, depression, ptsd, women’s issues and supporting healthcare workers.

I am a strong ally to LGBTQ and BIPOC folk and I hope that everyone will find safety here at Hygge no matter their sexual identity, gender, race or ethnicity. I offer a warm, compassionate space to do this work and will always see you as the whole, worthy person you are. We all deserve the chance to heal and live a joyful life.
